The Best Beaches for a Summer Vacation

Summer is near and school is starting to let out for most of our kids. This is the perfect time to start planning for the next family vacation. Most families will plan on a vacation either by plane or go on a road trip. With the economy the way it currently is, many families are trying to save money. This is one way to save money - go on a family road trip!

Usually beach destinations are popular. Look for spots that are not too far from where you live. We recommend vacation spots that would be about 5 hours or less away by car. You don't want the family to be bored on a long road trip do you? We didn't think so!

Here are some great beach spots to visit in different states:

California - great weather in the Summer time. The beaches are not as hot as the East Coast beaches and it is never muggy in the Summer time
- San Francisco
- Santa Cruz
- Santa Monica (beach and pier)
- Huntington Beach, Newport Beach (Orange County) - great beaches with nice surfing
- San Diego County beaches - too many to name but some include Carlsbad, La Jolla, etc.

Florida - our favorite state with some of the best beaches. The water is warm, mostly clear, and nice soft sand.
- The Florida Keys (of course!)
- Miami
- Ft. Lauderdale
- Naples
- Orlando

North Carolina - Beautiful beaches, soft sand, warm waters, what more do you want?
- Writghtsville Beach, Wilmington
- The Outer Banks

South Carolina
- Myrtle Beach

New Jersey
- Jersey Shore (really?!)
